Keggs Candies: Houston’s Iconic Confectionery Since 1948

Keggs has it all. Since 1946, this Houston institution has produced a wide range of confections, from the original “Pecan Crisp” and classic chocolates to rich fudge and, more recently, creamy custard. Over the decades, Keggs has remained a beloved local favorite, preserving traditional recipes while updating its facilities.

Keggs candiesOn a recent visit I indulged in a small football-shaped confection (yes, I really did) and later enjoyed half a slab of chocolate fudge during a drive around the city. The original Village shop may be gone, but walking through the new, state-of-the-art factory store on Westpark brought back many childhood memories and felt like stepping into a familiar, comforting place.

The truffles at Keggs are generously sized and packed with flavor, a treat for anyone who loves a bold chocolate experience.

The Pecan Hash, a blend of toasted pecans and sweet chocolate, combines two of my favorite flavors and tasted exceptionally fresh — a testament to Keggs’ attention to ingredient quality and timing.

Chocolate caramel confections are another standout. The balance of smooth caramel and deep chocolate coating is expertly done and remains a customer favorite.

Keggs offers more than just packaged treats; the facility’s layout and open production area make it one of the few places in Houston where you can get a full-service chocolate factory experience. Whether you’re a local or visiting, it’s a delightful destination for anyone interested in traditional candy making.

After all these years, Keggs continues to thrive. It stays true to its roots while adapting to modern tastes and remains one of Houston’s best-loved candy makers.
